SOLUTION
A custom RoofStep and RoofWalk system was created to protect against rooftop trip and safety hazards while also providing easier access to HVAC equipment.
Our team was recently dispatched to a large senior living facility to complete rooftop inspections. This complex operates as a senior health care centre with medical staff on-site, requiring consistent access to rooftop HVAC and air-cleaning equipment to maintain a safe and healthy environment for residents.
During the inspection, our team identified several fall safety risks on the roof, including multiple obstructions and uneven surfaces that created trip hazards. Regular access to a large HVAC unit was required, but the existing rooftop layout made safe navigation difficult.
To address these concerns, our team recommended creating a clear, elevated pathway that would allow workers to safely access the HVAC equipment while avoiding trip hazards and protecting the roof membrane.
Based on our established relationship and previous successful projects with the client, they proceeded with the installation of a custom RoofStep and RoofWalk system. These systems allow workers to securely navigate around rooftop obstacles and establish a designated, non-slip walking path across the roof surface.

This specially designed solution improved rooftop accessibility, reduced safety risks, and ensured maintenance staff could work confidently and safely while performing regular inspections and servicing.
