SOLUTION
We delivered a HatchGuard guardrail system with a self-closing gate to provide continuous fall protection around a rooftop hatch opening. This solution ensures safe access to the roof while maintaining a constant protective barrier around the opening.
We responded quickly to an urgent safety concern at a Kitchener–Waterloo area school. Safe rooftop access was critical due to the hatch’s close proximity to the roof edge and regulatory requirements to protect floor openings.
Our team installed a 4 ft x 4 ft HatchGuard Guardrail Kit designed to prevent accidental falls into the hatch opening. The integrated self-closing gate automatically returns to the closed position, protecting workers from stepping back into the open hatch during rooftop access and maintenance.
